Ha Long title
boat in Hoi An

Ha Long Bay is a 165 KM from Ha Noi. We took a one-day tour from Singh Cafe. Since it was January, and not the best time of year to visit, I think the one day tour was fine. Maybe 2 days would be fun in the summer because it is better beach weather, less hazy and the water is more clear. The bay is very picturesque, dotted with limestone formations small and large. There are many boats to take you on tours of the islands and their caves. It is definitely one of the prettiest places in Viet Nam. One of my "must sees."

Ha Long view
Everywhere you look there are limestone
formations of all different shapes and sizes.

These houses are built on top of fish farms.
They are communities on the water.

Produce vendor
This is one of the many vendors that pull along side
of the tour boats selling fruits and vegetables.

These vendors actually tie off to the boat while you're underway.

Boat
They climb on and sell their produce.
We bought some delicious bananas from this boy.

Ha Long bunch of boats
These wooden tour boats drop people off on an island and wait while their passengers take a walking tour of an incredible cave system.

Halong boat
The boat captains have a unique system of cooperation so they can tie so many boats to the dock at one time. You actually have to walk from boat to boat to get to yours.

Ha Long Cave
The caves are lit with colored lights to
make them even more dramatic.
